The Calathea "Peacock" is also called the Zebra Plant or the Peacock plant. A very popular houseplant, this indoor houseplant is especially suited for offices or apartments because of it's low-light requirements and is desired because of its unique leaf shape and vibrant dark green colors.
This plant can be prone to root rot if not placed in a well-draining pot, and using well-draining soil. The calathea does best in a medium to bright filtered light, but will tolerate lower light situations well. It is originally native to the tropical south & central America, Africa, and the West Indies. They are primarily grown for their beautiful, upright oval leaves.
